With the all new UEFA Nations League kicking off this Thursday, what better match to wet the appetite than Germany vs France?

These two have shared many a tussle throughout the years, and it's no doubt this one will be just as competitive. Die Mannschaft are looking to send the disaster of Russia 2018 into the annals of time, and re-establish themselves as a truly elite team at international level.

Here, we look at Germany's potential starting XI for the match in Munich:

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Manuel Neuer (GK) - Having recovered from long-term injury, Bayern's keeper is almost certain to keep hold of the goalkeeping jersey despite Germany's abject performance in the World Cup this summer.

Joshua Kimmich (RB) - A bright spark over the past year, Kimmich has taken over the role of dependable full-back from the legendary Philipp Lahm and he will look to impress once more.

Nico Schulz (LB) - Having enjoyed a successful season with Hoffenheim, Schulz has worked his way into the national team set up, and may he handed a first international cap by Joachim Low.

Jerome Boateng (CB) - Linked with a summer move away from Bayern for a number of months, Boateng will look to refocus his efforts on restoring national team success having failed to secure a move away from Munich.

Mats Hummels (CB) -  Antonio Rudiger and Niklas Sule will feel they have a chance of pushing Hummels close for a starting berth, but the Bayern star is likely to keep his place in the heart of defence given the trust Low puts him in.

2. Midfielders

Leroy Sane (RM) - Struggling to make an impression at Man City this season, this international fixture may act as somewhat of a saving grace for Sane. Back in Low's good graces, he could line up on the flank as the Germans look to exploit his pace.

Marco Reus (LM) - Bang in form and ever improving in terms of fitness, Dortmund's Marco Reus is a certain starter and chief creator down the left hand side.

Toni Kroos (CM) - Steady, secure and genuinely world-class - Kroos is a certain starter in the middle of the park, and will provide much needed midfield stability.

Ilkay Gundogan (CM) - The Manchester City man has been vocal in his support Mesut Ozil - who recently retired from national team duty after an ugly battle in which he criticised the DFB for racism. Likely to start, it will be interesting to see the reaction he gets from the German fans.

Thomas Muller (AM) - Usually Mr Dependable behind the front man, Muller went MIA during Germany's disastrous World Cup campaign. Will be looking to get back to his best here.

3. Forwards

Timo Werner (CF) - The RB Leipzig will lead the line once more and attempt to prove his doubters wrong. Under pressure to produce the goods following Miroslav Klose's retirement, Werner has struggled in national team colours thus far - with Nils Petersen waiting in the wings for his opportunity.
