Spain will travel to Wembley Stadium to kick off their first ever UEFA Nations League match against England on Saturday night following a disappointing World Cup this summer.
Luis Enrique will be hoping his side can improve on their somewhat dismal performances in Russia as they face a solid Three Lions outfit.
With a number of significant absentees due to retirement and injury, the Spain head coach has a number of big decisions to make.
With that in mind, here is the best potential Spain lineup to face England on Saturday.
1. Goalkeepers & Defenders
David De Gea (GK) – Despite a somewhat torrid display at the World Cup, the Manchester United shot stopper will continue as first choice goalkeeper under the reign of Luis Enrique.
Dani Carvajal (RB) – The Real Madrid full back is by far the best option Spain have on the right side of their defence, and will certainly be in the starting lineup.
Sergio Ramos (CB) – Ramos, who has over 150 international appearances to his name, will continue his role in the heart of Spain’s defence.
Cesar Azpilicueta (CB) – The Chelsea defender is likely to battle Inigo Martinez for a spot in Spain’s starting lineup, following the international retirement of Gerard Pique.
Marcos Alonso (LB) – The 27-year-old left back, who only has one appearance for the Spanish national team, is likely to start for Luis Enrique’s side following Jordi Alba’s absence from the squad.
2. Midfielders
Sergio Busquets (CM) – The Barcelona midfielder has made over a century of appearances for his country, and is all but certain to feature in Spain’s starting lineup.
Saul Niguez (CM) – In the absence of Koke, and following the retirement of Andres Iniesta and David Silva, the Atletico Madrid middle man could start for Spain this Saturday.
Isco (CAM) – The Real Madrid star, who is capable of playing anywhere across the midfield, is certain to feature in Enrique’s starting XI against England.
Marco Asensio (CAM) – With David Silva vacating the attacking midfield spot, the Real Madrid youngster could slide in nicely as a replacement.
3. Forwards
Iago Aspas (ST) – In the absence of Diego Costa, the Celta Vigo forward could be given the nod for a starting spot in the Spain side.
Alvaro Morata (ST) – The Chelsea front man has found the net once already this season, and with no Diego Costa, could find himself in the starting eleven for Spain.
