Paul Pogba admits Paul Scholes was the player who impressed him the most when he first arrived at Manchester United.
Pogba joined Old Trafford as a 16-year-old in 2009 and trained alongside the legendary England midfielder before leaving for Juventus three years later.
As well as Scholes’ ability, Pogba was also admits the physicality of English football was an initial surprise following his arrival from Le Havre.
“Paul Scholes. ‘Scholsey’. His right foot. It was perfectly tuned. He could shoot ten times, and the ball would end up in the same spot ten times,” Pogba told So Foot.
“Also, of course, the physical impact, the intensity, the explosiveness, the shooting.
“They shoot a lot, they always tell you to shoot. You’re within range, you shoot. They want to score goals over there, that’s how it is.
"It’s not like Italy where the only important thing is tactics, because a team that is very tactically aware is very hard to beat: Atletico Madrid, Leicester.
“Claudio Ranieri brought his touch, I noticed it the first time I saw Leicester. In Italy, you eat tactics, you sleep tactics. In England, they want to score goals.
"In Italy, they don’t want to concede them. That’s how it is.”
