Detectives investigating the murder of an army veteran have launched a public appeal for information regarding two men seen acting suspiciously on the day of his death. Graham, aged 64, tragically lost his life after going for a dog walk near the Perham Down woods in Wiltshire on 24th September.
An inquest held in Salisbury heard that Graham's dog returned home alone, which prompted his wife to initiate a search alongside the police. Later that day, his body was discovered in a section of the "popular" woods, close to the polo field at Perham Down. It was only following a post-mortem examination that the full extent of the tragedy became apparent, revealing that he had been murdered.
Wife's Heartfelt Tribute
Earlier this month, Graham's wife, Jacky, paid a heartfelt tribute to her husband, describing him as a "kind and generous" man. She further expressed, "He was a pillar of strength, trusted by all and always on hand to help family and friends whenever needed."
Police Seek Public Assistance
Authorities are now urging anyone who was in the vicinity of the polo field or the Perham Down woods between 9 am and 6 pm on 24th September and observed two men behaving unusually or suspiciously, to come forward with information. The investigation into this homicide continues with absolute commitment from the police.
DCI Phil Walker, leading the investigation, stated, "We are now four weeks on from Grahamβs murder but our commitment to establishing exactly what happened to him and who is responsible remains absolute and our investigation continues."
He particularly emphasised a specific timeframe: "I am really keen to hear from anyone who witnessed two males that looked out of place, or were acting suspiciously, in the woods on the morning of the 24th September, especially between 10 am and 11 am."
DCI Walker posed several critical questions to the public:
- Did you see someone who looked out of place or was acting suspiciously?
- Have you seen this person, or these people, before? Do you know their name?
- Did you see any vehicles that were driving erratically or appeared in an unusual place?
He extended his gratitude to the community for their engagement and support but stressed that he believes there are still individuals who were in or near Perham Down on that fateful day who have not yet come forward. "I would urge you to engage with our investigation," he appealed.
Given that the area is a popular spot for dog walking, cycling, and other recreational activities, DCI Walker reiterated the importance of any potential witnesses contacting the police. "If you were there that day, and havenβt yet done so, please contact us as you may hold vital information. If you know who is responsible, you can help us seek justice for Grahamβs murder," he concluded.
