Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three people, including a village head, Mohammed Bello, in connection with the killing of a 25-year-old man in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Other suspects, Bature Abdul and Babangida Abdul, were arrested by police detectives attached to the Ningi Police Area Command of Bauchi State.
The Bauchi Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement today, in Bauchi. He recalled that in 2009, the deceased, Nasiru Audu, from Judo village in Ningi LGA, was declared missing and his whereabouts unknown.
As stated by him, since then, discreet investigation began and police detectives attached to the Ningi Police Area Command were dispatched to the village on a fact-finding mission to unravel the mystery surrounding the sudden disappearance of the deceased.
Mohammed, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said on October 17, 2015, at about 4.30pm, the police detectives discovered that the deceased was allegedly killed by Abdul, 35, of the same village over a minor misunderstanding.
He added that further investigations revealed that the suspect conspired with his elder brother, Babangida Abdul, and dumped the corpse of the deceased in a well.
The police said the suspects later informed their village head, Bello, 70, who allegedly concealed the act and warned them not to inform anyone.
The PPRO stressed that all the three suspects had been arrested after confessing to the criminal act.
He added that the case was under investigation after which all the suspects would be charged to court.
