A 26-year-old man, Olaiya Ibeun, has been paraded by the Kogi State Police Command for allegedly sending insulting text messages to the state deputy governor, Mr. Yomi Awoniyi.

Parading the suspect yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police Mr. Saidu Madawaki stated the suspect also sent a similar message to the Chairman of Mopa-Muro Local Government Area Mr. Funsho Daniyan and Mr. Eric Fiki, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs.

He stated the suspect has been maligning and insulting his victims with intent to extort money from them, adding that Ibeun was arrested with the help of a lady, whose bank account he used to extort money from one of the victims.

He stated the lady was arrested by policemen while attempting to collect the money at one of the commercial banks in Lokoja, adding that she confessed to have been sent by the suspect who was later arrested in Kaduna.

Nigeria!!! Please, how would the man make money from just an insulting text message? The Police should let us know the content of the message. I believe the victim paid the man to cover up a crime. This man is only blackmailing and not insulting them.
