The Oyo State Police Command has appealed to members of the public to always monitor their wards and safeguard them from evil perpetrators.
The appeal was made by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adeleye Oyebade, while parading a suspect who kidnapped his sister’s three-year-old child for a ransom of 200,000 Naira.
Mr Oyebade urged the state residents to be absolutely sure to take safety measures to avoid the abuse of their children as much as possible.
He added that prompt information led to the rescue of the baby alive, urging residents of the state to continue to trust the Police with more of such information.
The Commissioner wondered what could have happened to the rescued child if the Police had not been informed early enough.
He stated that the onslaught against crime would be intensified, expressing confidence of better results as the community policing strategy has proven effective.
In his response, the 26-year-old kidnap suspect claimed that his friend, who was at large, masterminded the abduction. He confessed that he had kept the child for two days before he was arrested.
The Police also nabbed a 62-year-old man who stated he once studied Law but tried fruitlessly three times to get admitted to the Nigerian Law School.
As stated by him, he determined to practice anyway and had appeared in court defending people on many occasions before luck ran out on him.
