President Goodluck Jonathan has given the final approval for the establishment of the Enugu Free Trade Zone, Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime has disclosed. The state governor made this known during the commissioning of Sunrise Flour Mills Enugu, at the weekend. He said the President is expected to commission the project on May 21. Governor Chime said the project when fully operational, would go a long way in alleviating poverty and enhancing the economy of the state and that of its residents. Chime, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr Jude Akubuilo, said the Flour Mills which ceased production more than two decades ago was reactivated in partnership with a Vietnamese firm, VTV International Trading and Investment Company Limited (DVI). He said the government would continue to provide a conducive atmosphere for both local and foreign investors to thrive.
