Presidential adviser on the National Assembly (Senate) Matters, Senator Ita Eg, has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday assented to 2 new payments.
Speaking to State House Correspondents, he stated the brand new legal guidelines have been the Medical Residency Training Act, 2018 and the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (Establishment, Etc) (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Eg stated the medical regulation enacts and regulates the Medical Residency Training Programme for the coaching of Medical Practitioners and Dental Surgeons.
The programme could be regulated and managed by the National Medical Post-graduate College of Nigeria.
He acknowledged that the programme was for individuals with the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB. BSc, MB. CH, B, BDS), or its equal, who had finished the NYSC programme with discharge or exemption certificates.
Eg also stated that such candidates must also possess skilled indemnity certificates from a respected insurance coverage firm, amongst others.
“This Act is directed at guaranteeing the standard and competence of medical follow and practitioners in Nigeria by way of statutory medical coaching programmes.
“It is to encourage medical tourism from other countries to Nigeria and build further confidence in Nigeria medical system,” he acknowledged.
