President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday, held two separate conferences with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and 16 Peoples Democratic Party in what's believed to be his bid to resolve the disaster that led to the emergence of a splinter group within the party.
He first met behind closed doorways with Obasanjo for about two hours in his official residence within the Presidential Villa, Abuja after which the governors, together with 4 of the seven which can be the arrowheads of the splinter group often called the "new PDP".
The 4 are Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Muritala Nyako (Adamawa) and Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara). The different governors within the Group of Seven are Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Sule Lamido (Jigawa) and Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers).
Less than 24 hours after the splinter group emerged, Obasanjo, who didn't attend the particular nationwide conference on the Eagles Square, Abuja, confirmed up on the Presidential Villa.
It was learnt that the President mentioned points bordering on
the disaster within the PDP with Obasanjo.
Hours after assembly with the previous President, Jonathan additionally held an important assembly with Governors Aliyu, Kwankwaso, Isa Yuguda (Bauchi), Nyako (Adamawa), Idris Wada (Kogi), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), and Ahmed.
Others have been Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Ramalan Yero (Kaduna), Garba Umar (Taraba Acting Governor), Seidu Dakingari (Kebbi), Theodore Orji (Abia), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe) and Jonah Jang (Plateau).
At the assembly, Obasanjo expressed concern over the event and referred to as on each sides to keep up the established order. He assured in a quick assertion on Sunday night assembly of the elders of the PDP could be convened earlier than the tip of this week over the matter.
Chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum, Governor Godswill Akpabio had advised journalists on the conference's venue that he would reconcile the governors.
