In pursuit of collaborative efforts towards fight against corruption in Nigeria, the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption, and Civil Society Organizations has pledged to establish a robust partnership in tackling the menace.

This formed part of implementation of Resolution of the Conference on States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

In a statement issued at the end of the second meeting of the Committee, which was made available to Famzn News in Abuja on Monday, read: “Participants resolved to embark on advocacy geared towards the popularisation and effective implementation of the Sixth Resolution of the Conference of the States Parties to the UNCAC”.

The statement urged Nigerian Government and all State parties to ensure recovery of all embezzled funds and stolen assets, including off-the book assets and other proceeds of crime.

It urged all States parties “to cooperate to recover the proceeds of crime, as defined in the convention, including embezzled public funds and stolen assets, to prevent and detect transfers of proceeds of crime, including off-the-book assets derived from corruption, at home and abroad”.

Meanwhile, the statement described President Muhammadu Buhari “as oasis of integrity in his fight against corruption, while the citizens have been encouraged to mobilise for peaceful protests to the National Assembly in support of government’s effort.

“We challenge the civil society organizations to intensify actions in the fight against corruption in the country by mobilizing people in taking actionable campaigns in peaceful protests to national assemblies and appropriate authorities”, it maintained.
