Rafa Benitez has told Aleksandar Mitrovic and Jonjo Shelvey to forget about moving to a rival Premier League club in the last few days of the January window.
Mitrovic has been linked with Brighton and West Bromwich Albion this month with Newcastle rejecting a £7million offer this week.
The Seagulls are believed to be considering another bid to sign Mitrovic but Benitez is mindful of the fact that one of his own players could cause some damage in the relegation battle this season.

Shelvey is wanted by West Ham United but Benitez isn’t interested in selling the midfielder.
He said: “We are not thinking about selling any player to a Premier League team, a competitor because that has no sense.
“We have to do what we done in August, manage the players we have.
“If we go for a player in the Premier League they normally say no.
“If they come for our players it doesn’t matter how much they offer.
“If they offer £50million we will think about that but it doesn’t matter because we can’t spend the money if we don’t sign another player.”

Benitez is still confident of adding to the loan arrival of Kenedy before the window shuts on Wednesday night.
When asked if he would add to his squad, he said: “I hope so.
“I will tell you on January 31.
“But I hope so. We gave a list of players on January 1. The plan was for an A, B and C.”
