The Arsenal midfielder has revealed he was stunned by the fans' message asking for the French manager to leave, but added that he understands their frustrations

Aaron Ramsey has expressed his surprise at the fact some Arsenal fans want manager Arsene Wenger to quit.

During the FA Cup win over Hull City in midweek, some of the travelling Gunners supporters revealed a banner which read: "Arsene, thanks for the memories but it's time to say goodbye."

Ramsey, who is set for four weeks on the sidelines after injuring his thigh in the game at the KC Stadium, can’t believe there are people questioning Wenger.

"It shocked me. I didn't see the banner at the time because I was injured and went straight down the tunnel,” the Welsh midfielder told The Sun on Sunday.

"The lads weren't talking about it because the same sentiments have been expressed before, but to think that an Arsenal fan has taken the trouble to bring that to a game does shock me.

Wenger: Success never enough

"You see the amount of managers who get sacked these days - a few bad results and they're under pressure.

“But Arsene Wenger has handled it before and come out of it and I'm sure he'll do so again.”

Following last week’s derby draw with Tottenham, Arsenal have fallen eight points behind leaders Leicester City at the top of the Premier League.

Ramsey admitted he understands the fans disappointment given how England’s top flight has developed this season, but claimed he still feels Wenger is capable of delivering the title this season.

He added: "I think the frustration is there because it's Leicester at the top of the Premier League and the so-called bigger teams aren't.

"Everybody sees this season as an opportunity missed. This squad is good enough to win the league. On our day we can beat anybody."
