The Rangers traded Derick Brassard and a 2018 seventh-round draft pick to the Ottawa Senators for Mika Zibanejad and a 2018 second-round pick, the team announced Monday on Twitter.
The Rangers had acquired Brassard on April 3, 2013, as part of a deal that sent Marian Gaborik to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 28-year-old center totaled 174 points (60 goals, 105 assists) in three and a half seasons with the Rangers.
Zibanejad, 23, had career-highs last season in games played (81), goals (21), assists (30), points (51), and game-winning goals (7).
He entered the league in 2011-12 and has 151 career points (64 goals, 87 assists) in 281 career games.
