The Old Trafford legend believes the striker's breakthrough was entirely predictable and has tipped him to wow fans further as the full breadth of his talents is put on display

Paul Scholes has not been surprised by the rapid ascent of Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford, and has warned opposing teams that there is still more to come from the forward.

The 18-year-old exploded onto the scene with four goals in his first two outings for Louis van Gaal’s side but has yet to show his full array of skills, according to former England midfielder Scholes.

“You’ve not seen any yet, but he hits free kicks in a dipping fashion, almost the way [Cristiano] Ronaldo does,” he told United We Stand.

“He’s obviously only played a few times for the first team and his goals have been what you’d call ‘goalscorers’ goals’ but he’s got so much more than that.

“He’s quick and he’s good outside the box and he can smash a ball too.”

Meanwhile, Scholes believes that the forward’s progression has been entirely predictable.

“Rashford is no surprise to me at all. I’ve seen him play since he was 14 or 15 and then in Paul McGuiness’s [ex-Under 18 boss] side," he added.

“You always knew the talent was there.”

The Manchester-born youngster has started all of United’s last three league outings.
