Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admits the €35million signing of Renato Sanches from Benfica is "a bit of a gamble".
The Bundesliga champions could end up paying as much as €80m for the Portugal international.
Leroy Sane has left Germany for another huge fee after Manchester City splashed out €45m for the Schalke star.
It always remains to be seen whether either of the promising youngsters can live up to the high expectations, but Rummenigge is pleased Bayern acted swiftly to sign the 18-year-old Sanches before he impressed at Euro 2016. "
Of course, transfers like that [Sanches and Sane] are always a bit of a gamble," Rummenigge told TZ.
"But all clubs are on the lookout for players like them.
"Had we not made a move for Sanches this early, we would not have stood a chance after the Euros. I am very happy that we had the courage to spend €35m on what was already an expensive deal.
"He is a player who has a lot of personality and power for someone his age. I hope we will bring us a lot of joy."
