Mesut Ozil had created more goals for a single team-mate than any other player in Europe, but the Arsenal star and partner-in-crime Olivier Giroud have finally been dethroned
For much of the season, Mesut Ozil's assists for Olivier Giroud have led the way as the most prolific scorer/assister combination in both the Premier League and Europe, but not any more!
After setting up his Tottenham team-mate three times in the past week, against Aston Villa and Bournemouth, Dele Alli's partnership with Harry Kane now ranks as the best across Europe's top five leagues.
Alli has created seven goals for Kane following on from his perfectly weighted assist on Sunday, while Ozil and Giroud have failed to combine since the Frenchman netted against Manchester City back in December.
Other partnerships that were on fire at the start of the campaign have similarly slowed down, with Odion Ighalo only scoring once in his last 11 appearances (though it was set up by Troy Deeney), while Gerard Deulofeu has not started a league game since January, hampering his opportunities to assist Romelu Lukaku.
Incredibly, Alli and Kane's partnership means they are two goals clear of the best duos across the rest of Europe, with seven combinations tied across the top divisions in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
One-time Spurs flop Roberto Soldado has five assists for strike partner Cedric Bakambu, Neymar and Luis Suarez have both set each other up for five goals apiece, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edison Cavani have proved they can occasionally strike up a good rapport.
Not only does Alli and Kane's relationship bode well for Tottenham in the Premier League title race, but also for England at the Euros this summer - assuming that Roy Hodgson starts the pair, of course...
