Michael Phelps isn’t invincible.
The American swimmer couldn’t stay perfect in the Rio Olympics, finishing behind Singapore’s Joseph Schooling in the men’s 100-meter butterfly. Schooling finished with a time of 50.39. Phelps, South Africa’s Chad le Clos and Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh all tied for silver with a time of 51.14.
This would have been the fourth straight Olympic Games in which Phelps won this race, a feat he completed Thursday with his win in the 200-meter IM.
The silver medal is Phelps’ 27th Olympic medal overall.
This was Phelps’ final individual event of the 2016 Olympics, but he is also scheduled to take part in the 4x100-meter medley relay on Saturday.
