Independiente midfielder Christian Rodriguez beleves that Barcelona's Luis Suarez is "better than" Lionel Messi on current form.
Rodriguez, who had a spell at Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid, indicated that the former Liverpool striker's current form, with 19 goals in La Liga so far this season, has edged him ahead of Messi, who has just 12 goals in the Spanish top flight.
"Today, Luis Suarez is better than Messi," the 30-year-old told TyC Sports. "He's in a moment of form."
The Uruguayan player also revealed his fondness for Suarez because of their time together in the national side, looking forward to meeting again for the Copa America.
"I feel proud of him because on top of being Uruguayan like me, he's a team-mate with the national side."
