Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he does not need to be friends with his team-mates away from football in order to achieve success with them on the pitch.
The Portuguese star was asked about his relationship with fellow forwards Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in contrast to the close bond enjoyed by Barcelona trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.
"It doesn't matter if Bale comes to my house of if I have dinner with Benzema," he told reporters. "Kisses and hugs aren’t important, only the things that happen on the pitch are important. That's the only thing I value."
Bale moved to the Bernabeu in 2013 for a world record fee of £85 million, eclipsing the fee Real paid Manchester United for Ronaldo four years earlier.
It has been claimed the Portuguese is unhappy about Bale's transfer fee, because he does not like the fact that someone else cost more than him, although Ronaldo insists he is happy at the club.
"Do I feel appreciated? Yes, of course, absolutely. How could it not be so? I always play, I’ve scored a few goals and I’m at the best club in the world," he added.
"Why have I struggled to score away from home? Can you name one player who has scored more away from home than me since I’ve been in Spain?
"No, you can’t, there aren’t any. Bye everyone."
