Van der Sar also weighed in on the transfer situation involving his successor between the posts at United and the club's outstanding performer this term, David De Gea.
The Spaniard was on the verge of joining Madrid last summer only for the move to fall through, with the ex-Atletico Madrid product then going on to put in an outstanding season for Louis van Gaal's men.
His counterpart in the Madrid goal, Keylor Navas, has likewise been in inspired form, and Van der Sar stated he does not see either of them moving from where they are for the forseeable future.
"Well, De Gea is now playing for Man United," he concluded. "Real Madrid have a great keeper as well in Navas. He is good and that's the most important. This is how the situation is so far.
