The Catalan side's sporting director watched the Villarreal player on Saturday, but a deal is so far being blocked by the Yellow Submarine's inability to find a replacement
Barcelona are expected to step up their chase to sign Villarreal's Denis Suarez and Celta star Nolito in the final week of the January transfer window, according to Sport.
The Catalan side have long been admirers of the two Liga players but varying factors have prevented them from completing deals as of yet.
Barca sporting director Robert Fernandez cast an eye over Suarez in his side's 2-2 draw with Espanyol on Saturday as the club's interest in the player remains, but progress on an agreement over the player has been hindered by the Yellow Submarine's inability to find a replacement.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also hoping to land Nolito from high-flying Celta, with an €18 million release clause the only concern for Luis Enrique's side. However, the Spanish newspaper reports that the club would rather pay the fee after June 30 in order to prevent it from affecting their financial reports for the season.
The reigning world, European and Spanish champions will be hoping to find a way around the obstacles in the very near future, with the nation's transfer window closing on January 29.
