The former AC Milan midfielder is now trying his hand at coaching and could be on the verge of a move to Uefa's most easterly nation
Former AC Milan and Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso could be set to take over the Kazakhstan national team, according to sport.kz.
The 38-year-old is currently head coach of Pisa after spells with Sion, Palermo and OFI Crete but could be persuaded to leave the Lega Pro side at the end of the 2015/16 season in order to move east.
But the Italian could face competition for the post, with the Kazakh footballing authorties reportedly also negotiating with Vladimir Weiss, the former coach of Slovakia and Slovan Bratislava, who has previously worked in in Kazakhstan with Kairat Almaty.
