Manchester City are in talks with Espanyol over a move for Mamadou Sylla, according to Sport.
The 22-year-old forward made his senior debut for Espanyol last season but only started two games in La Liga, while he made another 12 appearances off the bench.
City are prepared to pay in the region of €1 million (£850,000) for Sylla and will offer the player a five-year deal.
But instead of going straight to Pep Guardiola’s side, the Senegal-born forward, who began his career at Barcelona’s La Masia academy, will be loaned out to Girona.
Girona remain in the second tier of Spanish football after narrowly missing out on promotion to La Liga last season.
