The Portuguese coach has resigned himself to the Red Devils sticking to their succession plan due to his lack of a track record of bringing through young players
Jose Mourinho has given up on his dream of becoming the next Manchester United manager, according to the Sunday People.
The Portuguese had been widely tipped to take over from Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford with the Red Devils' participation in next season's Champions League in doubt.
The United board, however, are keen to return to the club's core values and as a result they will reportedly stick to their plan of grooming Ryan Giggs to replace the Dutchman in 2017.
Mourinho's lack of a track record of bringing through young players is said to be the primary reason for his failure to land the job, with Marcus Rashford having made an immediate impact on the first team in recent weeks.
