The Argentine shot-stopper has appeared just 10 times for the Red Devils since signing last summer, but he turned down the chance to return to his native country
Manchester United reserve goalkeeper Sergio Romero has turned down the chance to replace Marcelo Barovero at River Plate, according to Nexogol.
The Argentina No. 1 moved to Old Trafford from Sampdoria in July 2015, but has appeared just 10 times in all competitions this season, with David De Gea firmly established as Louis van Gaal's first-choice option between the posts.
And Copa Libertadores holders River had identified 'Chiquito' as a quality replacement for Barovero, who has already announced he will leave the Argentines at the end of the current season.
Romero, however, told the Millonario he intends to continue his career in Europe - and that if he does return to his native country, it would only be to play for boyhood side Racing Club.
