Arsenal have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Spain international returned to Santigao Bernabeu this summer after two seasons at Juventus, but a host of clubs are reportedly keen to sign him ahead of the new campaign.
Chelsea had hoped the 23-year-old would become one of Antonio Conte's first signings at Stamford Bridge, but Morata has made it clear he wants to play Champions League football.
And that has left Arsenal in pole position to sign the forward if they can agree a fee and personal terms, though he could cost up to Β£65 million.
