The Portuguese is convinced that he will only get to replace the Dutchman at Old Trafford this summer if the club fail to secure a Champions League place
Jose Mourinho believes he will only get the Manchester United job if the club fail to finish in the top four this season, according to Manchester Evening News.
Several reports have suggested that the Portuguese will replace the Dutchman at the end of the season, but it’s now claimed that the former Chelsea boss is only convinced of landing the role if United miss out on a Champions League place.
United have already held talks with Mourinho’s representatives, although no deal has been finalised.
Mourinho is also reportedly embarrassed by the position Van Gaal has been put in following the media scrutiny.
