Louis van Gaal will miss out on a £1.1 million payout if Manchester United fail to quality for next season’s Champions League, according to The Times.
The report claims that the Dutchman is on an £8m-a-year contract but only £3.3m of that is his basic pay, with the rest topped up by performance-related bonuses.
Should United win the FA Cup later this month, Van Gaal will receive £400,000, while if he is sacked this summer, the 64-year-old will get a £5m payoff.
The rest of the United manager’s salary is made up of a £2m loyalty payment and £1.6m for image rights.
