Santos president Modesto Roma held meetings in Europe this week with officials from Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, and Goal understands that he engaged in talks about potential moves for rising stars Thiago Maia and Gabigol.
"We had productive conversations," Roma told Goal. "We didn't come to buy or sell players, neither in London or Madrid. We came to build up relationships. There weren't offers, but we did talk about partnerships. I talked to Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid."
Chelsea's initial approach for Thiago Maia took place last month through Brazilian agent Giuliano Bertolucci. The Blues now are expected to make a formal offer for the 19-year-old midfielder, though Santos are poised to ask for at least €20 million.
Having already drawn offers from Juventus and Inter, Gabigol also is receiving interest from Manchester United, Leicester City and Atletico. The 19-year-old striker has already made it clear to Santos that he wishes to be sold to a club in Europe by the end of August.
Thiago Maia and Gabigol are currently in Brazil competing for the Selecao at the Olympic Games.
