Antoine Griezmann fired Atletico Madrid past Bayern Munich on Tuesday to leave himself in line to claim the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Week prize, presented by Nissan, for the second week running.
The Frenchman galloped away shortly after half-time to place a cool finish past Manuel Neuer and book Atletico Madrid’s second appearance in the final of Europe's premier club competition in three years.
Griezmann took the GOTW award for Matchday 9 as he leapt to head his side past Barca in the quarter-finals but will face stiff competition to retain the gong, with team-mate Saul Niguez’ wonderstrike from the first leg a strong contender for goal of the tournament overall.
The latter weaved his way past three Bayern Munich defenders on a mazy run from deep that ended with a wonderful curled finish inside Neuer’s far post, earning his first Goal of the Week nomination of the season.
Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski joins the Atleti duo in the running for the prize for heading the German champions back into the tie at Allianz Arena.
Arturo Vidal’s impressive hop at the back post sent a deep David Alaba centre back across goal leaving Poland international Lewy to nod home from close range.
