Pro-Biafra agitators.
Heads of security agencies in Imo State have vowed to crush members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the September 14 sit-at-home order by the secessionist group in the country.
Famzn News learned that those who said they were ready to confront the IPOB members were the state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, and the Brigadier Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze-Owerri, HI Bature.
Other heads of security agencies who made the vow were those of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; Nigeria Immigration Service; Air Force, among others.
Describing the pro-Biafran agitators as “miscreants,” Galadanchi said the proposed sit-at-home order was not in tandem with the laws of the land.
Galadanchi, therefore, advised the members of the public to ignore the call for the sit-at-home and go about their business without fear of any attack.
The Imo Police Commissioner said the security agencies would from Tuesday (today) begin what he termed, “Operation show of force,” across the state to sensitise the people to the need to ignore the IPOB order.
His words, “IPOB members should remember that where one person’s rights end, the other person’s rights begin. Imo State must be great in our time. The sit-at-home order is at variance with the law.
“Anybody who tries to threaten law-abiding citizens in the name of sit-at-home would have the security agencies to contend with.”
Similarly, Bature said the army and other security agencies had the capacity and ability to contend with the IPOB members, urging the pro-Biafra group to explore lawful channels to press home their demands instead of threatening public peace.
