The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has assured that no corps member will likely be posted to areas going through safety challenges within the nation.
The NYSC Director-General, Brig Gen Suleiman Kazaure, acknowledged this in Ogun State on the Orientation Camp in Sagamu whereas addressing the 2018 Batch ‘A’ corps members.
According to a launch by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, the DG stated “no corps member can be posted to a space with safety breach inside the nation.
“The corps members must uphold the ideals of patriotism as responsible citizens in the discharge of their duties in their different places of primary assignment.”
The DG acknowledged additional that the scheme had engaged specialists and officers of safety companies to coach corps members in martial arts as a part of the self-defence routines.
He stated, “The safety of corps members, wherever they're serving, is a precedence within the scheme. Limiting the deployment of our corps members to areas with safety challenges is a deliberate measure for his or her security.
“We present them with a booklet on safety suggestions in addition to cellphone numbers that give them a direct entry of their locations of major task to personnel of safety companies such because the police, the State Security Service and different companies.
“Apart from these, the scheme has established Distress Call Centres domiciled within the NYSC Directorate headquarters which operate 24 hours. We even have the related particulars of all corps members nationwide and their areas are uploaded to the database of the centre.
“If anyone of them puts in a distress call, the call will immediately reflect on the computer screen the details and location of that corps member.”
