Immediate past governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has been confirmed by the Senate as minister of the Federal republic of Nigeria.
This is just as a cross section of the PDP senators led by senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, staged a walk out in the face of the heated argument the deliberation preceding the confirmation of Amaechi generated.
The senate had also rejected the report of the adhoc Chairman of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
The committee read out out the findings and found Amaechi guilty of the offences meted against him.
Sen. Akpabio immediatelty after reading the report asked for the Senate to allow a proper discussion on the report brought to The Senate by the Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
In a rather supportive tone, Senator Sekibo maintained that the Petition filed against Amaechi is an allegation that should not be amended by any Senator.
On her part, Sen Abiodun Olujimi stated there is a moral burden not only on the Senate but also on President Muhammadu Buhari who is campaigning against corruption.
