The Senate has confirmed the appointment of new military chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari, after hours of screening of the officials on Tuesday.
It will be recalled that General Muhammadu Bhari had on July 13, appointed new service chiefs for Nigeria's armed forces.
He had stated that the letter to confirm the appointments was in accordance with the provisions of Section18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act, 2004.
They are Maj-Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin, Chief of Defence Staff; Maj-Gen. Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas, Chief of Naval Staff.
Similarly, Air Vice-Marshal Sadique Abubakar was appointed the new Chief of Air Staff, while Air Vice-Marchal Monday Morgan was named Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Retired Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno was also appointed as National Security Adviser.
