Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State have dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Saraki announced his defection in a tweet on his official handle @bukolasaraki.
“I wish to inform Nigerians that, after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” his tweet read.
Abdulfatah Ahmed, in a statement by his media aide, Dr Muyideen Akorede, explained that his decision to leave the APC followed due consultations with the people and in response to calls by major stakeholder groups in the state.
Ahmed added that he defected to PDP, having realized that the ruling APC can no longer serve as a platform for achieving the aspirations and expectations of his people.
