The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called for a stop to the monetization of the country’s electoral process.

The body noted this on Monday in reaction to allegations that the governorship election in Ekiti State was highly monetized.

SERAP in a statement by its Director Adetokunbo Mumuni added that monetization of the electoral process has long been in the country.

He urged whoever is not satisfied with the result of the recently-held governorship election in Ekiti, to challenge it in court.

“Let whoever is dissatisfied with the process take the appropriate steps which is to go before the court and try to upturn the election results, but something must be done about the monetisation of the electoral process,” SERAP said.

“It is showing us in a bad light in the view of the international and domestic observers who witnessed the election.”
