Switzerland came back from behind to win 2-1 in their second match in Group E on Friday evening.
An early header from Aleksandar Mitrovic put Serbia ahead early on but Switzerland mounted a comeback in the second half, inspired by their talisman Xherdan Shaqiri. Granit Xhaka levelled the tie with an outstanding long-range effort before Shaqiri won the game right at the death with a composed finish.
Here's a look at how the players fared.
1. Serbia: Goalkeeper & Defenders
Vladimir Stojkovic 6/10 - Looked solid and made one or two tidy saves. Powerless to stop Xhaka's thunderbolt or Shaqiri's late finish.
Aleksandar Kolarov 7/10 - Rolling back the years once again with a brilliant performance at right back.
Dusko Tosic 4/10 - Not much got past him through the middle of the park right until the final moments. Needlessly stepped up, allowing Shaqiri to cruise past him.
Nikola Milenkovic 6/10 - Formed a formidable partnership alongside Tosic.
Branislav Ivanovic 6/10 - Dependable as usual but offered very little going forward.
2. Serbia: Midfielders
Luka Milivojevic 6/10 - The Crystal Palace man has enjoyed a decent World Cup so far and he put in another impressive shift in this one.
Nemanja Matic 6/10 - Always a calming influence in midfield and rarely misplaced any of his passes.
Dusan Tadic 7/10 - His link-up play was sharp and his lofted ball into Mitrovic for Serbia's goal was splendid.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic 7/10 - Really starting to show the world why is he so highly rated. Always looked threatening going forward.
Filip Kostic 6/10 - Not as incisive as Tadic on the opposing wind but still enjoyed a reasonable run out.
3. Serbia: Forward
Aleksandar Mitrovic 7/10 - Very decent performance from the big man and he headed home brilliantly early on the first. Constantly asked questions of the Switzerland defence and even put in a shift all over the park, popping up in Serbia's defensive third when needed.
4. Serbia: Substitutes
Adem Ljajic 6/10 - Didn't too much but had one or two moments where he opened up the Swiss defence.
Nemanja Radonjic 5/10 - Just didn't get into the game after coming on and upset the rhythm that Serbia were enjoying up top.
5. Switzerland: Goalkeeper & Defenders
Yann Sommer 6/10 - Tidy with his feet and looked dependable. Left with no chance for Mitrovic's goal.
Ricardo Rodriguez 6/10 - Allowed Tadic to cross the ball in for Mitrovic's goal but apart from that lapse in concentration looked threatening going forward.
Manuel Akanji 7/10 - The better of the two centre backs for Switzerland. Looked comfortable with the ball at his feet and made some timely tackles.
Fabian Schaer 5/10 - Should have done better to deal with Mitrovic for Serbia's goal. Struggled to deal with the big striker all evening.
Stephan Lichtsteiner 5/10 - Very lucky to not give away a penalty after foolishly manhandling Mitrovic.
6. Switzerland: Midfielders
Granit Xhaka 7/10 - Wasn't having a vintage night until he scored one of the best goals of the tournament with an absolute howitzer from 25 yards out to level the tie.
Valon Behrami 6/10 - Quietly went about his business and broke up play well, particularly in the second half.
Xherdan Shaqiri 8/10 - Slowly grew into the game and his energy inspired his side to improve their performance in the second half. Scored the winning goal with a incredibly composed finish.
Blerim Dzemaili 5/10 - Had a number of chances to score in the first half, all of which he wasted.
Steven Zuber 5/10 - Very quiet night, rarely featured in attacking areas.
7. Switzerland: Forward
Haris Seferovic 4/10 - Really disappointing performance from the big striker. Failed to get involved in the game other than winning a few headers at the top of the park. Unsurprisingly replaced at half time after consistently failing to impress.
8. Switzerland: Substitutes
Mario Gavranovic 5/10 - No better than the man he replaced and missed a few decent opportunities.
Breel Embolo 7/10 - An inspired substitution for Switzerland. Looked very bright and energetic and gave Switzerland a huge lift after coming on.
Josip Drmic N/A - Came on with a minute to go.
