Xherdan Shaqiri, Antoine Griezmann and Eden Hazard have made the shortlist for the UEFA EURO 2016 Goal of the Round of 16, presented by Carlsberg.
Switzerland star Shaqiri will take some beating after executing a textbook bicycle kick that forced penalties in his side’s eventual defeat to Poland, in a moment that will go down as one of the greatest in recent Euros memory.
But he faces stiff competition from Hazard, who put the gloss on a Belgian performance the continent has been waiting for by cutting in from the left to send an unstoppable shot past Gabor Kiraly in the 4-0 demolition of Hungary in Toulouse.
France star Griezmann hedged his bets for the accolade by submitting two entries to lead a French comeback that saw the hosts eliminate Republic of Ireland 2-1 in Lyon.
After going behind to a first-minute penalty, France rallied after the break when Griezmann first headed an equaliser before latching onto an Olivier Giroud knockdown to calmly slot home what proved to be the winner.
The final entry arrived from Germany’s Jerome Boateng after he smashed his side into an eighth-minute lead with a fierce low drive from the edge of the box in their 3-0 defeat of Slovakia.
