It's amazing how far cars have come over the past few decades. Not just in safety, refinement and fuel economy, but in performance too.
Care for an example? Look at the Skoda Superb. Yes, the Skoda Superb: essentially a bigger version of the Volkswagen Passat, made in the Czech Republic and with more space. Some might think of it roughly as the European equivalent of a Buick, but Skoda is here to tell us otherwise with this latest video.

The new top-spec version of the automaker's flagship sedan packs 276 horsepower to deliver a 0-62mph (100km/h) time of just 5.8 seconds. That makes it quicker and more powerful than a host of supercars... although those supercars are decades old by now: models like the Ferrari 308 GTB, Lotus Esprit, Honda NSX, and '87 Porsche 911 Carrera.

All of which speaks at least as much to the progress of the modern automobile as it does to the potency and capability of the Superb, specifically. But any way you look at it, it's pretty impressive.
