The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Najeem Salaam has denied backing down on his governorship desires.
There have been speculations that Salaam had backed down following a assembly with the nationwide chief of All Progressives Congress (APC)Bola Tinubu.
However, in a assertion in Osogbo, he mentioned Asiwaju Tinubu didn't ask him to jettison his ambition or step down, however fairly sought his view on how unity of function and victory might be achieved within the forthcoming governorship election.
“Why will Asiwaju Bola Tinubu ask me to step down? For who and for what? He is our national leader and symbol of our collective confidence. Yes, I met with him in company of Gov. Aregbesola and our party chairman, Prince Famodun and we talked about political development in Osun and we are all concerned about unity of purpose,” he mentioned.
“That’s the place it ends. To the glory of God, I'm an aspirant, I'm eminently certified as a Nigerian and a Ph. D holder in political science; management place will not be unusual to me, having presided over the home of 26 equals within the final seven years.
“So, why would I step down for anyone? Who can be more qualified in terms of management of material and human resources?”
