The Islanders’ slide continued tonight with a 6-2 loss to the Senators at Barclays Center, the Isles’ fifth straight loss.
Anders Lee and Anthony Beauvillier scored in the second period to erase a 2-0 deficit but Mark Stone’s power-play goal at 15:03 of the second, the eighth power-play goal the Islanders have allowed in their five losses (one in overtime), put them behind for good.
John Tavares nearly tied the game at 4:30 of the third period when referee Graham Skilliter ruled Tavares’ wrist shot went in but replay showed the shot hit the crossbar and stayed out. Just 75 seconds later Derick Brassard beat J-F Berube to put the game away. Two late empty-net goals accounted for the final margin.
