With 11 goals so far in 2015/16, the forward has equalled his personal best scoring tally set while at Liverpool, but he is keen to do even better before the end of the campaign

Manchester City's Raheem Sterling has paid tribute to Sergio Aguero for making him a better player in front of goal, as the forward looks to post his best scoring numbers this season.

The former Liverpool winger scored his 11th goal of the campaign in Saturday's 4-0 drubbing of Aston Villa, levelling his highest season tally to date.

And he has given the credit for his improvement to Aguero, who he singled out as an example of how to finish chances.

“I’ve been working on my finishing, it’s something I want to do,” the England international revealed.

“Obviously we have players in the team like Sergio, who you can look at and improve your game, and it’s no different for me.

“Every day I’m trying to improve the quality of my play, and hopefully I can continue.

“He is a world-class striker and someone I can look up to, so it’s always nice to have someone like him who you can watch and see how they finish.”

Aguero currently leads the way as City's top goalscorer in the current campaign, having found the back of the net 21 times in all competitions so far.

Sterling, who sits third behind the Argentine and Kevin De Bruyne, says he is looking to finish the season off with a bang in order to match a personal goal scoring target he has set for himself.

“With 10 games to go, I have matched my record in terms of goals at Liverpool, which is 11 so far,” he said.

“It isn’t near my target. It’s a personal target, not one to put in the press, and hopefully I can go on and reach that target I set myself for my first season here.”
