Liverpool revelation Kevin Stewart has been rewarded for his impressive performances under Jurgen Klopp with a new four-year deal.
The defensive midfielder, who was recalled from a loan spell at Swindon in January, has featured five times under the German, turning in dominant displays.
Stewart picked up an ankle injury in training last Monday, which saddened Klopp as the manager revealed the 22-year-old had been "outstanding" during the session before blocking a shot and picking up the problem.
"He trained outstandingly and then this happened. That's not too good," the trainer stated last Thursday.
A scan has revealed damage to his ligament and he faces a spell of four to five weeks out.
That setback has, however, been softened by receiving a new contract on improved terms.
The former Tottenham Hotspur talent's deal will run until 2020 and includes the option for another 12 months.
