Benue governorship candidate of the now rested Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2007 general elections, Professor Steve Torkuma Ugbah has fired back at those attacking the state governor, Samuel Ortom.

Ugbah who served as the Director General of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom’s campaign organization during last year’s general elections, in a statement issued yesterday reminded Ortom’s critics of the popular adage that says ‘Rome was not built in a day.’

As stated by him, the current administration of Ortom should be given all the needed support to succeed and not unnecessary attacks in the media.

He further urged them to be patient and assist government move the state and the nation forward.

“The seeming ‘impatience’ that some Benue State citizens, and indeed Nigerians, have shown about the current state of affairs are all taken in good faith. This shows how eager we all want to see a dramatic and marked improvement in our quality of life—the basic outcome of any economic, social, educational, etc. strategy.

“As the saying goes, ‘Rome was not built in a day.’ As we reflect on lives, and our collective eagerness to see the change that we all worked for materialize, I’d like to appeal to you to give the Buhari and Ortom administrations a chance to settle down and implement the programs articulated in the administrations’ policy documents which they have already started doing.

“I, therefore, appeal to all of us to sheathe our swords and give President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Samuel Ortom a chance to lead us to the change that we all hoped, craved, and voted for,” part of his statement read.
