A 20-year-old student, John Chukwu, who allegedly stole an ATM card belonging to his neighbour and withdrew N150,000 in a Kuje Upper Area Court in the FCT was Tuesday arraigned by the police.

Chukwu, who resides at Shadadi Area in Kuje Area Council was charged with two counts of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, Mercy Olagunkoye, stated that one Amaka Okham, of the same address with the accused, reported the matter at the Kuje Police Station on Sept. 2.

As stated by Olagunkoye, the accused entered the complait’s house when she was at work and stole her ATM card.

She added that on the same day the complaint discovered that N150, 000 had been withdrawn from her account.

Besides, the prosecutor said during investigation it was discovered that Chukwu committed the offence.

She stated that the offence contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the penal code.

After the charges were read to Chukwu, he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Judge, Malam Abdulahi Abdulkareem, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

Abdulkareem adjourned the case until Sept. 18 for hearing.
