The blast took place in Iskandariya (also known as Alexandria), an ancient city approximately 30 miles south of the Iraqi capital, according to the Associated Press.
The Amaq news agency, which has been linked to the so-called Islamic State, reported that the jihadi group was claiming responsibility for the attack.
On Tuesday, Islamic State claimed reponsibility for three bombings in Brussels, Belgium, which killed 31 people.
