The Ekiti State Police Command says it has arrested the suspect who killed the traditional ruler of Odo Oro in Ikole Local Government Area, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin.
Famzn News had reported earlier that the suspect stabbed the traditional ruler with a knife on Monday, August 20 and fled which prompted a manhunt for him.
The monarch was killed shortly after chairing a meeting with his chiefs where matters of community development were said to have been discussed.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, in a telephone chat on Tuesday, disclosed that the culprit has been apprehended.
DSP Ikechukwu gave the name of the suspect as Omoniyi Ademola Stephen.
The Ekiti Police PRO revealed that Ademola was arrested around 4.30 pm on Monday around Ajao Market in Ado-Ekiti.
His words: “The suspect has been arrested and he was brought in under investigation.
“He confessed to the act and our investigation continues. The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation.”
Ikechukwu assured the Ekiti people that the police will be professional in their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
