Volkswagen and Audi are the newest automakers to be involved in the Takata airbag inflators issue.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there are 734 vehicles affected from both manufacturers, which include the Tiguan, produced between January 15 to 21, 2015, and the Q5, assembled between January 13 and February 3, 2015.
Both models are equipped with defective driver and front passenger mounted airbag inflators, which, just in previous cases, might rupture in the event of a crash and spread shrapnel into the cabin, increasing the risk of injury.
It seems that a driver sustained slight injuries under the left arm in mid-2015, after the side airbag ruptured in a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan.
