Chelsea player, Frank Lampard might have discovered a future Chelsea captain by letting some academy stars feature in the senior team, according to Chris Sutton. Their imposed transfer ban stopped the manager from signing any new players, so he decided to promote youngsters ahead of the 2019-20 season. Chris, who featured for Chelsea during the 1999-2000 season, believes that the young English stars, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori all have the attributes to be captain at Chelsea someday. His words, "Thereβs been a lot of admiration for what Frank Lampard has achieved at Chelsea this season. "The pressure is off on the basis since the early 2000s in the Abramovich era, everyone always expected Chelsea to be in the hunt for the Premier League title. "Heβs achieved great things with the younger players, the likes of Abraham coming through, Mason Mount playing well, Reece James has been excellent. It bodes well, and theyβre an exciting team to watch. "Theyβve got a manager that has total faith and belief in them, and at the start of the season he gave Abraham an opportunity over [Olivier] Giroud and [Michy] Batshuayi, heβd seen him and trusted him and you can only give him credit for allowing players like him, Mason Mount and Tomori to make that step up. "If the players at their age are showing early signs of being able to consistently perform at a high level in the Premier League, then thereβs no reason why one of them couldnβt become a Chelsea captain.β
